Nurse Educator of Tomorrow Scholarship Applications Are Due May 3

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., April 14, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Master's and doctoral degree students planning to become nursing instructors at North Carolina public and private colleges and universities may apply for the Nurse Educators of Tomorrow (NET) scholarship-loan for the 2011-12 academic year at the college information site, CFNC.org/NET.  Up to 80 new awards are available for the coming year, according to the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA), a partner in CFNC.  

NET awards for recipients are valued at $15,000 per year for up to two years for master's degree-seeking students and up to three years for doctoral degree-seeking students. Upon completion of their nursing education program, scholarship-loan recipients must agree to teach in a nursing program at a North Carolina public or private college or university.  Students who do not fulfill the service obligation must repay the scholarship-loan in cash.

Applications will be accepted until May 3, 2011.  Recipients are selected by the North Carolina Nurse Scholars Commission based on superior academics, leadership potential and desire to become a nursing instructor in North Carolina on a full time basis.
