NXPowerLite 6 integrates seamlessly with Outlook to optimize and compress email attachments
LONDON, January 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Anyone who has worked with large documents knows the frustrations caused by lost or blocked emails. File bloat is recognised as a growing problem in the IT industry, with outsized Office documents causing the most issues for email filters and storage. NXPowerLite Desktop 6 not only excels at compressing the image-heavy Office documents that Zip barely reduces at all, but makes creating and emailing the smaller files as straightforward as sending any attachment.
File compression experts Neuxpower have released the sixth major update of their Desktop suite. The new version allows users to compress or 'optimize' bulky Office documents, PDFs and JPEGs by up to 95% in four different ways: (1) using the application directly, (2) from the Microsoft Office menu, (3) with an email plug-in that automatically shrinks attached files as they are sent, or (4) in Windows Explorer directly.
NXPowerLite Desktop 6 keeps up-to-date with new Office releases and file types, slimming down a wider range of files by more than ever before, but it also places an unprecedented emphasis on user experience. Neuxpower CEO Mike Power commented, 'Our philosophy has always been that a product designed to make life easier should be as simple and unobtrusive to use as possible. We've really strived to achieve that with the new Desktop version. It's now more effective at reducing files than ever, especially PDF files. It also integrates much better with Outlook, has 14 fewer warning alerts, and the alerts that remain have been completely re-written to make them easier to understand. We have lots more that we can do, but with version 6 we've taken a huge step in the right direction.'
Optimization differs from traditional compression software like Zip in that it removes redundant information and resizes graphics whilst maintaining their quality, rather than compressing the entire file. As a result it is particularly effective on Office documents and PDFs that contain images, often shrinking them by anything from 80 to 95 percent. File extensions remain unchanged, so no decompression is required to view them.
The result is files that look and act exactly the same but are a fraction of their original size, something that is key to NXPowerLite's appeal. 'Ideally, you shouldn't have to think about using the software at all. It just runs in the background, optimizing your files. The only reason you notice it is because you stop having problems with emails bouncing or running out of storage space.'
