NYC Startup Ecosystem Reveals Names of Its Top Players...and they're younger than you think
NEW YORK, Aug. 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- StrtupBoost, a 25,000-person community of entrepreneurs, investors and early-stage companies in NYC, will announce the winners of their 33 Under 33 Awards on Tuesday. The Awards celebrate the top three entrepreneurs under age 33, in 11 different categories. Open to anyone born after December 31, 1983 who lives or works in NYC, the Awards are determined by popular vote.
Jason Malki, CEO of StrtupBoost says, "There's a lot of press about how Millennials are 'killing' different industries. That's just not true. Every day in NYC we see outstanding talent in technology, venture capital, social media, marketing, accounting and law. It's incredible what the nominees have accomplished and the positions they hold...and they're all 33 or younger."
This year is the first year for the Awards. The nominees include professionals from Fiverr, Indigogo, Fownders, Galvanize, Samsung, TriNet, American Express Ventures, ProductSavvy, Flatiron Investors, Raaly, SlateNYC, Courtside Ventures and other companies. Candidates were peer-nominated, and voting took place over a two and a half-week period using Bestest, a free voting platform for smartphones. There was no cost to nominate candidates or vote for finalists.
Malki notes, "These Awards, unlike so many others, come from the people—not some committee sitting in a conference room. We were careful to design a nomination and voting process that was democratic, using Bestest, an independent platform that allowed the community to vote, right from their phones."
The results of public voting will be revealed on August 8th at 6 p.m. at an exclusive Awards Ceremony for nominees and V.I.P. guests from the investment community at The Attic Rooftop & Lounge (251 West 48th Street). The top three finalists in each category will be recognized.
