NEW YORK, April 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- On a cold Friday in the dead of winter, NYLON Media Inc. CEO Paul Greenberg gathered ten staff members together in the company's New York City headquarters and issued a very simple challenge: "Take this $100 and do something good for somebody else."
The challenge to "do something good" was met in a variety of ways. Some staff members reached out to established community service organizations, including Animal Haven shelter in SoHo, while others went out in the surrounding neighborhood to do good for people they encountered on the street and in local businesses.
NYLON's $100 challenge is documented in a video that was released today on NYLON.com and shows how each staff member met the task and how they were left with a new perspective.
"We wanted to initiate a company wide community service project and when this idea was presented to us, we were electrified and felt we could do something big with it. Our video tells the story of each participating staff member's experience and hopefully will inspire others to do the same, whether with $1 or $100," said Greenberg. "We're extremely proud of this effort and video and effort, and we're thrilled that we're able to give back to the community and use our resources to amplify and spread the message."
"Five years from now, we're not going to remember whether we went to that seemingly important meeting or whether we stayed late to finish up that project. What we'll remember is the way we lit up a stranger's face by doing something simple and easy," a staff member writes.
NYLON will spotlight others who #takethe100challenge in the weeks ahead.
