Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf attends MacArthur Commons groundbreaking ceremony in Oakland's Temescal District
The multifamily development is spearheaded by an all-female team.
OAKLAND, Calif., July 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In late June, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf joined Build Group employees Jessica Ferrara, Daphne Yeung, Erin Robinson, Rachel Mulrenin, and others to celebrate the groundbreaking of MacArthur Commons. When completed, it will be a 385 unit multifamily development situated right next to the largest BART stop in the Bay Area. The project will provide new rental opportunities for hundreds looking to be closer to their work commutes.
The construction of MacArthur Commons on such a prominent piece of land in Oakland will enhance the physical appearance of the corridor and promote a new liveliness in one of the city's oldest neighborhoods. The finished complex features three separate residential buildings, a clubroom, fitness center, outdoor pool and spa, and pedestrian plaza. These communal areas will allow MacArthur Commons to facilitate a community within itself – places where residents are able to interact and form relationships amidst their hectic schedules.
The general contractor for the project is Build Group, a renowned company based in San Francisco. They have provided quality commercial construction and management services throughout the state of California for more than a decade now.
