ROYAL OAK, Mich., Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Oberweis Ice Cream and Dairy Stores announced an unusual event in these tough economic times: the opening of a new store! The company's 49th location will open to the public Monday, March 1, 2010, at 32808 Woodward Ave. in Royal Oak. This store is the second Royal Oak Oberweis store, with the first near Main and 11 Mile behind the Main Art Theatre.
Oberweis president and 4th generation family member Joe Oberweis said, "The greater Detroit area will persevere through these difficult times, and for right now, we're here to provide the absolute best milk, ice cream, and chocolates anywhere in the world!"
"There may not be many new stores opening around Detroit or across the U.S., but we are very proud to have another location in Michigan. We're not focused on the next year. We're focused on the next 20 years," he said.
Jim Oberweis, Joe's father and chairman of Oberweis Dairy, and his wife, Julie, will be on-site Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 4 pm for a special ribbon cutting ceremony with the Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce, where they will talk about the company's commitment to the community and will be available for informal discussion and interviews.
