OBP Medical's ER-SPEC Awarded Innovative Technology Contract with Novation GPO

LAWRENCE, Mass., Dec. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- OBP Medical Inc., the leading global developer of single-use, self-contained, illuminating medical devices, and Novation, a leading health care services company, today announced a new 3-year contract that will make OBP's ER-SPEC, an entirely single-use vaginal speculum with built-in light source, available to the health care providers that Novation serves.

The ER-SPEC is a completely self-contained and entirely disposable vaginal speculum, meaning the device comes out of the package ready to use and is thrown away after a single procedure. The device boasts an integrated, hands-free, single-use light source that makes rechargeable and plug-in light sources obsolete. These features eliminate the time and expense of reprocessing, as well as time spent looking for light sources and assembling components prior to an examination or procedure, all while reducing the risk of cross-contamination inherent with reusable devices and external light sources. With the ER-SPEC, health care organizations—including more than 2,000 hospitals, clinics and physician offices across the country—experience faster patient throughput, improved efficiency and enhanced patient safety and satisfaction.
