OCEAN CITY, Md., May 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
WHAT: |
Ocean City, Md., was fortunate and sustained minimal damage during Hurricane Sandy with one exception, the town's iconic fishing pier. People across the country watched as news outlets captured the pier collapsing into the Ocean. On Friday, May 24 at 10:30 a.m., and just in time for the busy Memorial Day weekend, the town will celebrate the rebuilding and official opening of the pier with a ceremonial first cast by Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan. The event will feature remarks and media tours of the new pier. |
The fishing pier has been a fixture in the Ocean City landscape since it was completed in 1907. The pier runs 489 feet into the Ocean. |
