LAKEVILLE, Mass., March 6, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc., the agricultural cooperative owned by more than 700 farmer families, today announced its partnership with Wet Cement, a U.S.-based consulting firm that provides global training, coaching and keynote speaking services, to lead the cooperative's International Women's Day (IWD) event at Ocean Spray headquarters in Lakeville, Massachusetts. To honor both Women's History Month and today's holiday celebrating women's achievements while promoting greater equality worldwide, Ocean Spray organized a series of inspiring events for their team, that were live-streamed for their colleagues and farmers around the world.
The festivities kicked off with an Awards Program to recognize mentors who supported their female colleagues around the world, followed by the "Advance Women At Work™ Through Inclusive Leadership" keynote, delivered by Wet Cement Founder and CEO Jennifer Willey. The program addresses internal and external barriers to women's professional career growth, while providing insights, inspiration, and actionable tools to manage these challenges and propel female leaders forward. Male employees and leaders in attendance learned how to foster a more collaborative and inclusive culture.
Following her keynote, Ms. Willey led an interactive workshop helping attendees build their "Personal Board of Directors"--a strategic network of advocates and allies who will take a vested interest in their success. Attendees purposefully connected as they developed a plan to accelerate their career growth.
Ocean Spray's celebration kicked off earlier this week by elevating women across the organization through a Professional Learning experience. Female colleagues across various levels and divisions presented inspiring highlights from the Massachusetts Conference for Women—the largest women's conference in the country—to share their valuable insights with their colleagues. As part of the company's supportive and empowering approach, each presenter received a private "Confident Communications Coaching" session with Ms. Willey to prepare their presentations.
"At Ocean Spray, we believe investing in women and girls creates a brighter and more prosperous future," said MaKenzie Gardner, Manager of Diversity and Inclusion at Ocean Spray. "On International Women's Day, we recognize and celebrate our female colleagues' extraordinary achievements and take time to recalibrate and assess where we stand in achieving equity and equality for not only our female colleagues, but also women worldwide."
Adds Wet Cement's Jennifer Willey: "I am honored to lead Ocean Spray's International Women's Day celebration to support and develop their female employees and growers while accelerating inclusivity. I'm so impressed with their holistic approach, encompassing celebrating, inspiring, educating and connecting the entire Ocean Spray team. Their efforts go far beyond a social media-friendly 'Each for Equal' post, but rather, provides women with a voice and expanded network to help them achieve their potential, while empowering the men to be 'modern leaders.'"
