Elaborate animations and atmospheric sound effects breathe life into the story of a little mouse who endeavors to create his own aircraft and complete a trans-Atlantic crossing. This multimedia experience invites all kinds of participation: the mechanics of a steam engine rendered in compelling detail, and various airplanes are interactive by touch. Our hero dodges mousetraps and predators to finally rise into the air and escape.
Tracking shots allow readers to dive into the story and get lost in the animated pictures. They become part of the story and follow the mouse right into gloomy libraries, through sewer tunnels and rain slicked streets, and together explore the big wide world.
Adventurers can read the text or choose to have the text read out loud to them and can highlight it in color, great for beginning readers.
The picture book was first published in the US in May 2014 to starred reviews in Publishers Weekly and School Library Journal. The New York Times Book Review called the book "An auspicious debut" for Torben Kuhlmann, and it was named a Parent's Choice Award and a NY Public Library Top 100 Children's Book.
This new interactive e-book for children ages 5 and up is available exclusively in the iBooks Store and at TigerBooks, a digital sales platform for interactive children's books. Till Weitendorf, Oetinger's CEO says, "We are heralding an entirely new kind of digital content. Away from gaming, towards immersive stories which also delight the reader with a whole new form of interactivity."
TigerCreate is a software that can be used to create interactive e-books and apps for all relevant platforms.
