Ogilvy & Mather New York Unveils New Exhibition: The February Show

NEW YORK, Feb. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Ogilvy & Mather New York is pleased to announce the opening of The February Show on Thursday, February 17, 2011. The group exhibition, housed at the Ogilvy & Mather headquarters in New York, maps artwork across disciplines and aesthetics through a progressive selection of contemporary art.

The February Show aims to highlight the diverse perspectives behind the concept of Black History Month. Similarly, the title, The February Show, is meant to spark a dialogue about how effectively this celebration inspires us to expand our knowledge of our national history, and the implications of limiting the recognition of Black American culture to a specific month.

Artists featured include Derrick Adams, Ernest A. Bryant III, Julia Brown, Mike Cloud, Yashua Klos, Simone Leigh, Kambui Olujimi, Jessica Ann Peavy, William Ransom, Loul Samater, Xaviera Simmons, Jeffrey Sims, Shinique Smith, Devin Troy Strother, Hank Willis Thomas, Jina Valentine, Paula Wilson and Saya Woolfalk.

The exhibition has been curated by Jun Lee and Heather Hart, in partnership with Black Diaspora, an Ogilvy Professional Network.

A reception will be held to mark the exhibition's opening on Thursday, February 17, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The exhibition will be on display in the lobby concourse and on the gallery walls of The Chocolate Factory (636 11th Avenue, New York City) through June 2011. Appointments to view the exhibit can be made by request (Tuesday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).
