Ohio: Avon Lake and Oberlin listed among state's most charming towns
COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Avon Lake and Oberlin have both been named among the most charming towns in Ohio in a survey conducted by TravelMag.com.
The online travel magazine invited 100 travel writers, photographers and selected professionals to name the Ohio towns they consider the most appealing. Those surveyed were asked to choose their top three towns and villages with populations of between 5,000 and 50,000. All of the votes were then added up to produce the final ten.
Situated in Lorain County in northeast Ohio, the towns of Avon Lake and Oberlin both appeared in a large number of survey responses, leading to them featuring in the Top 10. In fact, they have both appeared on previous lists of Ohio's best places to live – in 2015 and 2012 respectively – for their good schools and low crime rate, as well as their visual appeal.
Nestled on the picturesque banks of Lake Erie, Avon Lake oozes small town charm, while Oberlin is a small but bustling town renowned for its progressive education institutions and beautifully preserved historic homes.
Elsewhere on the list, northeast Ohio is also represented by Broadway Heights in Cuyahoga County, a family friendly town boasting a rich cultural heritage; Cortland in Trumbull County, a popular retirement town; and Hudson in Summit County, dotted with tree-lined streets and historic buildings.
In Central Ohio, Granville (Licking County), Loveland (a suburb of northern Cincinnati) and Tipp City (Miami County) also made the final ten, as well as Marietta (Washington County) and Willoughby (a suburb of Cleveland).
