Ohio Is Latest State to Launch Gordian Group System to Speed Facility Repairs and Cut Costs
MAULDIN, S.C., July 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Gordian Group, Inc. announced today an agreement with the Ohio Dept. of Administrative Services making it more efficient and less costly for public agencies across the state to contract services for repair, renovation and minor construction projects on public buildings, schools, parks and roads. The system is available to approximately 2,000 state, county and municipal agencies, as well as public school districts, colleges and universities.
Ohio is among a group of states who have chosen Gordian Group Job Order Contracting services to help governments control spending while continuing to deliver high-quality facility repair and alteration services. Arizona, Connecticut, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Utah have implemented similar programs in their battles to control spending on maintenance of public facilities and infrastructure.
News reports indicate 50% of state governments are currently working to cut spending in their 2012 budgets. States reportedly are reassessing fiscal priorities as tax collections fall and expenses rise.
"The Gordian Group welcomes the Ohio Dept. of Administrative Services as the latest agency to see the time and cost efficiencies gained with ezIQC® on procurement of repair and alteration projects," said Robert Coffey, President and CEO. "Working together, our staffs will help agencies throughout the state with the repairs and alterations of existing buildings and infrastructure."
Ohio officials are implementing The Gordian Group's ezIQC through the National Joint Powers Alliance® buying cooperative program. ezIQC has been customized for use by agencies throughout the state to encourage participation by local Ohio contractors and will be administered by an experienced ezIQC team at The Gordian Group. Efforts are underway to expand the program by publicizing contract opportunities to encourage a strong response from the contractors in five regions throughout the state.
ezIQC is The Gordian Group's cooperative purchasing version of Job Order Contracting. Job Order Contracting is a competitively bid procurement process government agencies use to accomplish a large number of small- to medium-sized repair and alteration projects based on a set of locally priced construction tasks and competitively awarded contracts. The ezIQC team works closely with each agency leader to create a detailed scope of work for each project, review the contractor's price proposal and walk the agency through the entire procurement process. The agency reviews the proposal package to determine if it is within budget and schedule. There is no obligation to use a contractor until a price proposal is approved and purchase order issued to the contractor.
Each year, more than $1.5 billion in public repair and renovation work is procured using the Gordian Group's ezIQC and other systems, saving agencies not only millions of dollars, but also countless hours in procurement and project-management time.
