Oklahoma's Oil Industry Hosts Inaugural Helping Hand Event

TULSA, Okla., Sept. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Tulsa, Oklahoma-based Samson Investment Company and a number of its peers in the energy industry came together earlier this month to offer a helping hand to families in need. Samson was one of the local sponsors of the inaugural Oilfield Helping Hands Oklahoma Golf Tournament, held September 12, 2011 at Meadowbrook Golf Course in Tulsa.

Through fundraising events Oilfield Helping Hands (OHH) assists oilfield families in critical need of financial support. OHH focuses on raising money and keeping costs down to help someone in the immediate oilfield community.

Oklahoma is celebrating its first year as a free standing chapter of OHH. Funds raised during the golf tournament – totaling over $30,000 – will be donated to members of the Oklahoma-based oilfield families who are in critical need of financial assistance due to major medical crises and other life-altering events.

Kurt Primeaux, Samson Gulf Coast Division Operations Manager, said, "Oilfield Helping Hands is committed to lending a helping hands to those oilfield families in need through no fault of their own. Our primary objective is to not cover all their needs, but to lend a helping hand to help them get back on their own two feet."

Since 2003, the organization has gained momentum as the word spread of how OHH grew from one small sporting clays tournament to five fundraising events each year. OHH has provided more than $1.1 million in financial aid to 127 families.
