Old Carolina Barbecue Company Mentor Wins Best National Ribs
Local barbecue franchise is National Award Winner for Best Ribs at Red, White and BBQ at Downtown Willoughby's Rib Burn Off
MENTOR, Ohio, May 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- An estimated seventy-thousand people gathered this past weekend in downtown Willoughby to enjoy live music, beer, friends and most importantly, ribs, for the 4th Annual Rib Burn Off. Old Carolina Barbecue Company Mentor entered the contest to showcase their authentic barbecue and mouth-watering ribs and walked away with the award for Best National Ribs.
Todd Schafer, owner of Old Carolina Barbecue Company Mentor, was thrilled with the event. "Downtown Willoughby exceeded themselves in generating a crowd that appealed to all age-levels," he said. "It was our first year competing and we were so happy to be a part of it."
The overwhelming success of this 4th Annual Rib Burn Off is thanks to the quality of food, the entertainment lineup and the number of people that attended. John Bowers, President of the Downtown Willoughby Bar and Restaurant Association, said, "We were very pleased that Old Carolina Barbecue Company Mentor participated in our 4th annual event. This was by far our most successful. This event will continue to grow and we hope Old Carolina will be with us in the future."
Fifteen restaurants were competing for recognition at the event. Schafer said, "To win the Best National Ribs Award over national chains while being local to Northeast Ohio made the win that much sweeter. Hopefully this will help generate awareness that our award-winning restaurant is just down the road."
