Oleg Deripaska's Further Criminal Complaints Dismissed by Swiss Legal Authorities

Federal Attorney General's Office again rejects criminal complaints lodged by Oleg Deripaska (UC Rusal)

Just three weeks after the Swiss Federal Criminal Court rejected an objection lodged by Oleg Deripaska (UC Rusal) to a previous such ruling, the Swiss Federal Attorney General's Office has announced that it will not be further investigating the other criminal complaints lodged by Deripaska under the Swiss legal system. Deripaska and UC Rusal have submitted a series of such complaints in Switzerland since August 2011. This second legally-valid decision by the Federal Attorney General not to conduct any further investigations in this regard effectively rejects all such remaining complaints.

Complaints also rejected in other jurisdictions

UC Rusal has initiated criminal actions in several other countries, too, against Vladimir Potanin, his Interros Holding Company and Norilsk Nickel. In almost all such cases, UC Rusal (which is controlled by Oleg Deripaska) has had its complaints dismissed, with either the complaints concerned being rejected upon examination or the courts and authorities involved refusing even to initiate the corresponding investigations in view of their untenable foundation.

Defamatory accusations spread via the media

Oleg Deripaska and UC Rusal have thus suffered a further legal defeat, after the Swiss Federal Criminal Court had already talked of "untenable allegations" when rejecting the parties' objection to a previous such ruling on 20 April last. Deripaska and UC Rusal have also had their criminal complaints actively supported in Switzerland by an extensive and at times defamatory media campaign. The Interros Holding Company (Russia) condemns this approach, and notes with satisfaction the decision by the Federal Attorney General's Office not to further pursue the complaints concerned.
