Omnicell and King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre Collaborate to Deliver Excellence in Automation
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Nov. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Omnicell, Inc. (NASDAQ: OMCL) a leading provider of medication and supply management solutions and analytics software for health care facilities, today announced that King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSH&RC) in Riyadh has now expanded its installation of Omnicell products to include full use of Omnicell's Anesthesia Workstation™ in 37 operating theatres throughout the hospital to be the first hospital in the region fully automating its operating room medication and supply management. The health care facility replaced a competitive legacy system with the Omnicell Anesthesia Workstation due to Omnicell's experienced local support capabilities and the company's track record for continually improving its technology to meet the needs of growing health care systems. KFSH&RC also recently selected Omnicell as its automation partner for the new 23-floor King Abdullah Centre for Oncology and Liver Diseases (KACO&LD).
The Omnicell Anesthesia Workstation is an automated dispensing cabinet for the operating theatre designed to provide secure, convenient access to drugs required during surgery and easy documentation of controlled substance dispensing. This automated system securely stores the medications and supplies needed for a full day of cases in one convenient place and automatically tracks inventory used.
KFSH&RC is also using Omnicell's Supply Management system in all operating theatres and stores and will soon be using this system in the KACO&LD. Omnicell Supply Management is an automated system that allows for cost accounting and consumption tracking of medical supplies at the patient level. This data feeds into the hospital's information system for evaluation of utilization patterns for increased inventory control.
