Omnifone Supports SiriusXM's New Personalised Radio Feature, MySXM
LONDON, April 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Omnifone, the leading provider of global cloud-based music services, today announces that it is supporting Sirius XM Radio's MySXM, its new personalisation feature, with Omnifone's innovative cloud-based digital music platform, MusicStation®.
Omnifone is responsible for content ingestion, transcoding and delivery as well as providing the middleware and platform backend logic including profile management for MySXM. The new personalisation feature MySXM enables SiriusXM Internet Radio listeners to personalise over 50 commercial-free music and comedy channels for a more tailored listening experience. Omnifone's platform retrieves and stores personalisation settings and other data, such as playback history.
MySXM is built for iOS and compatible Android mobile and tablet devices using Omnifone's embedded native media middleware, Mars, and for PCs and Macs using Omnifone's RESTful web services API, Warp.
Jeff Hughes, chief executive officer, Omnifone, said: "With over 24 million subscribers, SiriusXM is the clear leader in the audio entertainment space and we're delighted to support MySXM."
"The digital music industry made great strides in terms of growth last year and 2013 is shaping up to be a year of further returns. We experienced a 300 per cent increase in subscribers to our cloud music platform alone in 2012. By constantly innovating our cloud music platform to increase flexibility our customers, including SiriusXM, can remain agile and respond to changing consumer demand during this exciting growth phase. The flexibility of our platform enables us to assist digital music services right across the board and positions providers, such as SiriusXM, well for expansion into new areas."
