On the Momentous Occasion of its 60th Anniversary, the Mecca of Indian Art, Jehangir Art Gallery is all set to go Digital

Nationally recognized centre of contemporary Indian art, Jehangir Art Gallery, has always been contemporary in thought as well; therefore it was just a matter of time before the gallery announced an online presence.

We all agree that the Jehangir Art Gallery has rendered exemplary service to Indian art and culture over the last six decades. Over the years, Jehangir Art Gallery helped establish a platform for the works of innumerable artists, and has made art accessible not only to connoisseurs of art but also to the common man. They have been an equal opportunity platform not only for established masters, but also upcoming artists from across the country. The Diamond Jubilee celebrations will be held from the 16th - 28th October, 2012 and will have a melange of events ranging from an art auction of 50 stellar artworks, a musical event by the tabla maestro Zakir Hussain, a fashion show by designer Sabyasachi, a historical exhibition of 60 years of 'Indian art through the eyes of Jehangir', sale of specially created memorabilia for this event alongside free workshops, art-talks, etc. The idea is to make the entire city or rather the entire country 'celebrate Jehangir'!

The other part of the celebrations will revolve around the soon to be launched website. The website is expected to be an online showcase of the exhibitions held at the gallery, thereby, giving the artist a global exposure all at once. To kick start this, Jehangir Art Gallery has announced 'Art for Art' - Create the Masthead.
