OnBoard Launches AI Assist, the First Full-Context Semantic AI in Board Management

Conversational AI connects directors with past discussions and decisions through cited answers inside their board management platform. 

INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- OnBoard today announced the launch of AI Assist, bringing secure frontier AI into the board management platform directors already use. Available today to every OnBoard customer, the conversational experience lets directors', administrators, and executives ask questions in plain language, explore earlier discussions, and interrogate data — with answers cited to their sources — as they prepare for meetings. 

According to OnBoard's 2026 Board Effectiveness Survey, 92% of directors used AI for board work in the previous six months, while 63% serve on boards without a policy governing its use. 

OnBoard AI Assist works within existing access permissions, so users retrieve only materials they are authorized to view. Customer data is never used to train AI models and directors' judgment is necessary before a single decision is made.

While in beta testing, AI Assist helped boards surface information that could change a decision — from a significant risk buried in past board materials to an unresolved condition attached to an earlier investment approval, directors can now connect today's proposal to that history, with cited sources they can examine before the vote.

AI Assist strengthens the institutional memory at the heart of Governance IQ, a promise and outcome OnBoard launched in July to connect board history with industry knowledge and individual expertise. By making past discussions and decisions easier to consult, AI Assist helps that knowledge remain useful as directors come and go.
