One Mind for Research Welcomes General Peter W. Chiarelli as Chief Executive Officer

RUTHERFORD, Calif., March 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- One Mind for Research is pleased to announce that General Peter W. Chiarelli, U.S. Army (Retired), will join the organization as Chief Executive Officer, effective March 12, 2012.  General Chiarelli recently served as the Vice Chief of Staff, U.S. Army, where he was a tireless advocate for eliminating the stigma associated with Service Members and Veterans getting the help they need for the treatment of the invisible wounds of war.  Co-founded by former Congressman Patrick Kennedy and passionate mental health advocate Garen Staglin, One Mind for Research is an independent, non-profit organization bringing together health care providers, researchers, academics and the health care industry - on a global scale - to cure all brain disorders.

In his new role, General Chiarelli will make One Mind for Research's vision of unprecedented collaboration and alignment among global stakeholders in brain research a reality.  Through his leadership, One Mind for Research will facilitate public-private partnerships throughout the world, accelerating discovery and dissemination of disease modifying preventions, diagnoses, treatments and cures.

General Chiarelli will lead the organization by working with partners to advance the plan by creating needed changes in the way health care professionals, scientists, the health care industry, and government partners think about and conduct research and, when warranted, champion changes in mental health related public policy.
