OneTok Lets Developers Voice-Enable Mobile Apps in a Snap

NEW YORK, July 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Voice interfaces have become the must-have feature for everything from TVs to PCs to cars, but adding that capability to mobile apps takes expertise and resources that most developers lack. The new OneTok platform eliminates that hurdle by giving developers a fast, easy and cost-efficient way to voice-enable any app for all major smartphone and tablet operating systems, with native support for Android, BlackBerry 10 and iOS.

OneTok is a cloud-based platform that lets developers configure any word or phrase to invoke any activity in their app, all with just a few clicks. Instead of jabbing at buttons while driving or typing their destination, smartphone and tablet users now can simply use their voice for tasks such as controlling and navigating apps, entering their login or conducting a search.

OneTok also includes a variety of native voice commands:

• Log in and out
• Post to Facebook
• Share via email or Twitter
• Save to favorites
• Search
• Enter credit card information
• Navigate back forward
• Zoom in and out

A plug-in for PhoneGap extends OneTok to additional development environments.  Upcoming versions of OneTok will add native support for Windows Phone 8 and integration with additional third-party development platforms. 

OneTok is the platform product from a startup of the same name founded by Ben Lilienthal and Jerry Norton. The two New York City-based serial entrepreneurs most recently were behind VoIP conferencing giant Vapps, which Citrix acquired for $26.6 million. Founded in January 2012, OneTok's seed round investors include RRE Ventures and Peter J. Solomon.
