OpticWash Meets Stringent OSHA Requirements for Disinfecting Eyewear and Protective Gear
AVT-built system helps factories, warehouses and other businesses using protective eyewear meet federal standards
CORONA, Calif., May 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- AVT, Inc. (OTC Markets: AVTC) (www.autoretail.com), a leader in custom kiosks and automated retailing units, announced that the OpticWash system provides a fast, simple and easy way for companies to comply with OSHA standards for the disinfecting of protective eyewear.
According to OSHA regulations, "When employees are assigned protective equipment for extended periods, the equipment should be cleaned and disinfected regularly."
The OpticWash system provides a quicker and easier way to achieve eyewear sanitization, than any other method.
OSHA states, "Several methods for disinfecting eye-protective equipment are acceptable." However, goes on to list a lengthy, time consuming and laborious process to disinfect eyewear. They state:
- "Disassemble the goggles or spectacles and thoroughly clean all parts with soap and warm water.
- Carefully rinse all traces of soap and replace defective parts with new ones.
- Swab thoroughly or completely and immerse all parts for 10 minutes in a solution of germicidal deodorant fungicide.
- Remove parts from solution and suspend in a clean place for air drying at room temperature or with heated air.
- Do not rinse after removing parts from the solution because this will remove the germicidal residue that retains its effectiveness after drying."
The OpticWash system is far more productive, and takes only about 1 minute. The system uses purified water and an ultraviolet light source that kills 99% of all bacteria.
The National Association of Manufacturers states that there are 17.4 million manufacturing jobs in the United States. AVT management believes that the productivity gains by using the OpticWash system could be enormous.
"We can help companies increase efficiency through this highly effective, time-saving system," said Shannon Illingworth, Chairman and Founder of AVT, Inc.
