Optipoint Custom Tracking Releases White Paper on EOBR
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., March 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Optipoint Custom Tracking has released a new white paper on the new federal EOBR rule. The paper, "Electronic On-Board Recorders: Making the Mandates Profitable" was developed by Ruben Mirensky, CEO and president of Optipoint Custom Tracking. Mirensky is one of the country's preeminent experts in supply chain management and the use of technology to streamline and improve logistic operations. Mirensky presented a related seminar this week at the Mid-American Trucking Show.
Proposed rulemaking by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) are expected to soon mandate Electronic On-Board Recorders (EOBR) for many commercial motor carriers and provide incentives for others to adopt them voluntarily.
To comply with these new rules, at least 55 percent of all long-distance truckers would need to add new equipment, according to a recent survey by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety. Many in the trucking industry, still struggling through the recession's impacts, are asking tough questions about the new requirements and how to make the transition work in their favor.
In his new paper, Mirensky addresses timely questions about the status and details of the pending mandates as well as how trucking companies can use affordable GPS technology to comply while gaining powerful new information tools to better manage route planning, schedules and inventories.
Optipoint Custom Tracking systems offer advanced GPS data that automatically creates transactions in existing ERP systems to give transportation industry clients more information and control in reports that can be tailored to specific applications for a variety of industries.
