LOS ANGELES, Sept. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In an historic first-time partnership, the Writers Guild Foundation and the Austin Film Festival will join forces to explore the writing processes behind a variety of critically-acclaimed and popular movies and television shows.
The Festival, now in its 20th year, will host the WGF's "Scribble To Screen" exhibit, a collection of early handwritten drafts and other production materials from a variety of television and film projects - ranging from Matthew Weiner's early notes for THE SOPRANOS to Lawrence Kasdan's handwritten first draft of THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.
The exhibit will be paired with an all-day series of panel discussions featuring the minds behind Orange Is The New Black, Castle and the upcoming Battle Creek, who will detail the creations of their respective shows, as well as the process of creating a typical episode from initial idea-spark to final shooting draft. Black List founder Franklin Leonard will be on hand to moderate. The panel series will be followed by a reception.
Screenwriters Robin Swicord (Memoirs of a Geisha) and Ashley Edward Miller (X-Men: First Class) will also be on hand to discuss their own writing processes.
Panelists will be available for media interviews.
