Orange is the New Success: SelectionStore Revolutionises Curated Shopping

With the "SelectionStore" product, German software agency Q.One with the orange "Q" in its logo has introduced a revolutionary solution for curated online shopping. Bloggers, influencers or publishers can offer any desired products for sale directly to their customers using the SelectionStore technology - not as previously through affiliate links but rather through a central and cross-shop shopping basket of their own.

"Previously, all content providers were obliged to link customers interested in making a purchase to the respective shops. This meant that the customer relationship ended fairly abruptly for them," explains Carsten Puschmann from Q.One. "With our solution, they can now make it possible to buy every product from any desired online shops directly in their context."

The central shopping basket in particular is an innovation: whereas the customer previously had to work laboriously through the checkout forms of the individual shops, a single click now suffices to buy any desired products without having to leave the respective content page. Once the personal data have been entered, they are automatically forwarded to the individual shops in the background after order is sent.

"This almost magical remote control of the individual shops has cost us many person-years in development. Ultimately, we do not want the blogger to become the shop operator and have to deal with customer enquiries or returns but rather the sale should still take place directly in the respective shops - just automatically and via a central shopping basket," Carsten Puschmann emphasises.

Print media are also supported through a separate app: start the app, photograph the web code or QR code, then the product already appears in the shopping basket. Q.One looks after the entire ordering and affiliate handling.

Q.One conducted a larger test at the end of 2016 together with Deutsche Bahn: as part of the railway WLAN initiative in ICE trains, it was possible to buy product highlights directly from top shops (incl. Tchibo, GALERIA Kaufhof, redcoon, Douglas) in one bahn.select shop via a central shopping basket. Live operation is currently being planned together with the railway. In parallel with this, Q.One is holding talks with several publishers, customer loyalty programmes and affiliate publishers about licensing the technology.
