Orc Incremental Launches Today: a Warcraft II-Inspired Idle Game With Hand-Drawn Sprites
A long-haul incremental from Playsaurus, the studio behind Clicker Heroes and the publisher of Cookie Clicker. Out now on Steam, $7.99, with a 15% launch-week discount.
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Independent developer Nice Ride and publisher Playsaurus today released Orc Incremental on PC via Steam for $7.99 USD, with a 15 percent launch-week discount. It is Nice Ride's debut game.
Orc Incremental is an idle auto-battler. Players start with a single orc and draft units and totems from card draws, then arrange them into a formation before sending them out. Armies fight on their own, so runs are won at the drafting table rather than in combat: which units stand in front, what the back line is protected by, and which synergies stack decide whether a warband breaks through a wall or stalls at it. When progress stops, a Dark Rebirth resets the run in exchange for permanent bonuses and new unlocks.
It is built as a long-haul idle game rather than a short one. Where much of the recent wave of incrementals is designed to be finished in an evening, Orc Incremental is structured around repeated rebirths, a permanent upgrade tree of more than 250 nodes, and content that keeps scaling long after the point most games in the genre stop. Hundreds of players put more than 100 hours into the demo alone, before the full game existed.
Runs are punctuated by milestone bosses with their own attack patterns, which call in waves of reinforcements as they are worn down. They are the check on whether a formation actually holds up, and beating one usually means going back to the draft and rebuilding around it.
Every sprite is drawn by hand. Nice Ride built the art on late-90s real-time strategy games like Warcraft II, Dungeon Keeper and Age of Empires, using pure sprite work, no rendering technique that would not have existed in the era, and palettes deliberately left to clash the way they did then. No generative AI art was used anywhere in the game.
"A lot of incrementals coming out right now are built to be finished in a weekend," said Austin Oblouk, CEO of Playsaurus. "This one isn't."
