ORGANIZE Invites New Yorkers To #RocktheWaitlist At Webster Hall Concert And Live Registration Event
Non-profit aims to set record for donor registrations in a single hour
NEW YORK, June 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- ORGANIZE, a non-profit focused on solving the organ donation crisis in the U.S., is hosting a live registration event and concert at Webster Hall on Saturday, June 11th. At the #RocktheWaitlist event, which will feature musical acts Frank, Evil Jake, Spanking Charlene and Controller, attendees will also have the opportunity to register as organ donors, helping ORGANIZE set the record for organ donor registrations in an hour.
On average, there are only 8,000 deceased organ donors every year—and more than 123,000 people are waiting for organ donations that could save their lives. The actual potential for donors though, is almost five times higher; 38,000 Americans pass away each year in medically suitable ways for donation.
ORGANIZE's mission is simple: to make the process of registering to be an organ donor easier. The organization does this two ways: by allowing people to register easily online via the organization's industry-leading central registry, and by helping people make their donation wishes known publicly and to next of kin through social declarations using hashtags such as #EndtheWaitlist.
"We're always trying to build innovation new solutions to make the registration process simpler and easier," says ORGANIZE co-founder Jenna Arnold. "This live-registration event is a great example: we're enabling donors to sign up on the spot while raising awareness around organ donation —all in the name of ending the organ donation waitlist."
The concert and live registration will be taking place on Saturday, June 11th at 7:00 PM (doors open at 6:30 PM). Tickets for the event are $10 in advance and $12 at the door, and can be purchased via TicketWeb. To learn more, visit www.rockthewaitlist.org.
