Organize My Drawer chiefs choose winners in University of Denver marketing challenge
CENTENNIAL, Colo., May 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The owners of eCommerce startup Organize My Drawer (OMD) named its winning team in the University of Denver, Daniels College of Business marketing campaign challenge.
Seven teams of MS Marketing students assumed the role of full-service agencies charged with preparing Integrated Marketing Communications plans for OMD. Teams spent seven weeks developing campaigns to achieve maximum impact within budget. Each then presented to owners Wayne and Andrea Qualkinbush.
The Denver Home Show's "Best New Product" award winner was previously sold exclusively direct to consumers, but this year the company shifted focus to business-to-business with a new Business Partner Program and division focused on healthcare. The Qualkinbushes tasked students with creating IMC campaigns aimed at entering B2B markets.
"We were excited to see what 37 of the newest minds in marketing came up with," said CEO Wayne Qualkinbush.
Dr. Ali Besharat, Assistant Professor of Marketing, teaches the IMC class which covers key marketing communications methods. "Dr. Besharat instructed his grad students to act as if OMD was their client," Qualkinbush said.
Dr. Besharat has overseen similar projects with Comcast, Qdoba and ehealthscreen. "I like giving graduate students hands-on experiences to prepare them for the real world," he said. "The OMD project was key in sharpening written and verbal communication skills, presentation skills, working in teams and secondary research use."
Winning teammates include Noa Kenigsztein, Adam Rosen, Brianne Sheridan (pictured with Andrea Qualkinbush and Dr. Ali Besharat), Matthias Malojer and Marisa Margolies. Students were awarded trophies and gift cards at the annual Honors Convocation on May 19, 2017.
