OrthoAccel Forms Key Opinion Leadership Group

HOUSTON, Jan. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- OrthoAccel® Technologies, Inc., maker of AcceleDent™, is pleased to announce the charter members of the OrthoAccel Key Opinion Leadership Group.

In the coming year OrthoAccel intends to expand the Key Opinion Leadership Group to include thought leaders from around the globe.

Group members have all distinguished themselves as world-class clinicians and sought-after lecturers on the subjects of contemporary orthodontic techniques and practices. Charter members include:

Dr. Cliff Alexander received his BBA degree from St. Edwards University in 1993 and later pursued a D.D.S. degree from Baylor Dental School. In 1996, he earned a Masters degree in Orthodontics from the St. Louis Department of Orthodontics, where he was invited to join the part-time faculty and now frequently lectures and oversees patient care. He lectures nationally and internationally, teaching courses on lingual applications in orthodontics. He is an active member of dental and orthodontic organizations, including the Dallas County Dental Society, Texas Dental Association, Greater Dallas Association of Orthodontists (President 2002), Southwestern Society of Orthodontists (President 2012) and the American Association of Orthodontists.

Dr. Jay Bowman received his D.M.D. from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine and a M.S.D. from Saint Louis University Department of Orthodontics. In addition to maintaining private practices in Portage, Kalamazoo and Paw Paw, Michigan, Dr. Bowman is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Saint Louis University. He developed and teaches the Straightwire course at The University of Michigan and is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Bowman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a member of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists, a Fellow of the American and the International College of Dentists, a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy and a Regent of the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation. He received the Angle Research Award in 2000 and the Alumni Merit Award from Saint Louis University in 2005.

Dr. Anil Idiculla, a Diplomate with the American Board of Orthodontists, graduated summa cum laude from dental school in Florida and completed his orthodontic residency at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Idiculla is an orthodontic faculty member at The University of Colorado, chairs the Communications Committee at Metropolitan Denver Dental Society, and is an active board member for Kids In Need of Dentistry and the Colorado Summer Orthodontic Meeting. He has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally on subjects such as practice building through management and marketing excellence, practice efficiency, and temporary anchorage devices.

Dr. Robert Miller has lectured throughout the world to orthodontists seeking creative new ideas to better serve their patients. A pioneer in the area of orthopedic correctors, his current lecture topics include precision bracket placement, temporary anchorage devices (TADs), Class II correctors and treatment protocols for unique orthodontic appliances. Dr. Miller earned his D.M.D. degree in 1983 from The Medical University of South Carolina and completed his orthodontic residency at the Medical College of Virginia in 1985. He served for three years in the USAF as Chief of Orthodontics at Clark Air Base in the Philippines. He is past president of the Virginia Association of Orthodontics.

Dr. Stephen Tracey is a graduate of Loma Linda University, with a B.S. degree in Human Biology (1983), a D.D.S. degree (1983) and an M.S. degree in Orthodontics (1986). He is well known for his expertise and involvement with aesthetic orthodontic treatment and emerging orthodontic technologies such as cone beam computed tomography, 3-D custom appliance fabrications, soft tissue laser applications (with proficiency certification in both diode and Er:YAG lasers) and miniscrew anchorage. He authored a chapter in the textbook Orthodontics: Current Principles and Techniques. He currently serves as Visiting Professor of Orthodontics at the University of Ferrara, in Italy.

Dr. Neil Warshawsky, a board certified orthodontic specialist, has over 18 years of experience with cleft palate and craniofacial cases and is an Associate Professor of Orthodontics at the University of Illinois Craniofacial Center. A strong proponent of customized orthodontic solutions, Dr. Warshawsky has been using the Invisalign™ system since 1999. He has authored two articles on Essix retainers and in 2003, became one of the first orthodontists outside Europe to use the 3M Unitek Incognito™ Appliance System. Dr. Warshawsky received his D.D.S., M.S. and Certificate of Orthodontics from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and is a member of the World Federation of Orthodontics.
