OTC Markets Group Acquires theOTC.today
NEW YORK, May 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- OTC Markets Group Inc. ("OTC Markets" or "the Company") (OTCQX: OTCM), operator of financial markets for 10,000 U.S. and global securities, today announced it has acquired theOTC.today, an independent website that monitors and analyzes stock promotion campaigns, effective May 30. As a result of the transaction, the Company has obtained access to valuable research and historical data on stock promotions that will be used to enhance OTC Markets' issuer compliance processes and compliance data product offerings. The acquisition was funded by cash on hand.
Since its launch in April 2011, theOTC.today has tracked and published data on stock promotion schemes and raised public awareness of fraudulent promoters in OTC and exchange listed securities. In the acquisition, OTC Markets will take over the data collection process and incorporate data into its existing market data products. Expanding the data availability will allow all market participants to better identify the subset of securities that are undergoing promotions. In addition, the Company will make key promotion data publicly-available on its website, www.otcmarkets.com. OTC Markets has assumed ownership of theOTC.today website, http://www.theotc.today/.
