OTC Markets Group Announces Quarterly Index Performance and Rebalancing
NEW YORK, Jan. 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- OTC Markets Group Inc. (OTCQX: OTCM), operator of financial markets for 10,000 U.S. and global securities, today announced the fourth quarter 2016 performance and quarterly rebalancing of the OTCQX® and OTCQB® indexes, including the OTCQX Canada Index and the OTCQX Dividend Index.
The OTCQX Composite Index (.OTCQX), which tracks the overall OTCQX Best Market, was unchanged (-0.15%) in the fourth quarter. The index was up 3.6% for the full year 2016. Thirty-three companies were added to the index in the quarter and 53 companies were removed, including Diffusion Pharmaceuticals Inc., which graduated to Nasdaq on November 9, 2016.
The OTCQX Billion+ Index (.OTCQXBIL), which benchmarks the performance of $1 billion-plus market cap OTCQX companies, was unchanged (-0.15%) for the quarter. The index was up 3.6% in 2016. Eight companies were added to the index and six companies were removed.
The OTCQX Dividend Index (.OTCQXDIV), which tracks dividend-paying U.S. and international OTCQX companies, was unchanged (+0.08%) in the quarter. The index was up 2.3% since its launch in the second quarter 2016. Twenty companies joined the index and 13 companies were removed.
The OTCQX Banks Index (.OTCQXBK), comprised of OTCQX community and regional banks, rose 11.1% in the quarter. The index was up 16.7% for the full year 2016. Seven companies joined the index during the fourth quarter: First Priority Financial Corp. (OTCQX: FPBK), InsCorp, Inc. (OTCQX: IBTN), The Little Bank, Inc. (Kinston, NC) (OTCQX: LTLB), NASB Financial, Inc. (OTCQX: NASB), OCB Bancorp (CA) (OTCQX: OJCB), Parkway Acquisition Corp. (OTCQX: PKKW) and TGR Financial, Inc. (OTCQX: TGRF). Ten companies were removed.
The OTCQX International Index (.OTCQXINT), a benchmark for OTCQX international companies, was unchanged (-0.19%) in the quarter. The index was up 3.6% in 2016. Fifteen companies joined the Index and 32 companies were removed.
The OTCQX Canada Index (.OTCQXCAN), which tracks Canadian companies traded on OTCQX, was down 3% since its inception in the fourth quarter 2016. Nine companies were added to the index in the quarter and 27 companies were removed.
The OTCQX U.S. Index (.OTCQXUS), comprised of U.S.-based OTCQX companies, was up 6.7% in the fourth quarter. The index was up 8.3% for the full year 2016. Eighteen companies were added to the index and 21 companies were removed, including Diffusion Pharmaceuticals, which graduated to Nasdaq.
The OTCQB Venture Index (.OTCQB), which tracks the overall OTCQB Venture Market, was up 13.2% in the fourth quarter 2016. The index was down 3.4% for the full year 2016. One hundred six companies were added to the index in the quarter and 102 companies were removed, including the following companies which all graduated to Nasdaq during the quarter: FlexShopper, Inc., Genius Brands International, Inc., Limbach Holdings, Inc. (LMB), Moxian, Inc., Root9B Holdings, Inc., Social Reality Inc., Soligenix, Inc., TapImmune, Inc., and Xenetic Biosciences, Inc.
The OTCM QX ADR 30 Index (.OTCQX30), powered by BNY Mellon DR IndicesSM and comprised of the 30 largest, most actively-traded OTCQX American Depositary Receipts, declined slightly (-0.86%) in the fourth quarter. The index was unchanged (-0.5%) in 2016. There were no constitutent changes to the index in the fourth quarter.
The OTCM ADR Index (.OTCDR), powered by BNY Mellon DR Indices and comprised of ADRs traded on the OTCQX, OTCQB and Pink® markets, was down 2.2% in the fourth quarter. The index was up 1.3% in 2016. Six companies were added to the index during the fourth quarter and 18 companies were removed.

All indexes are market capitalization-weighted and adjusted on a quarterly basis for additions and share changes over 5% during the months of March, June, September and December. In the case of ADRs, the DR ratio is considered. Dividends are re-invested as of the close of business the day before the ex-dividend date.
