OTC Markets Group Launches OTCQX Canada Index

NEW YORK, Oct. 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- OTC Markets Group Inc. (OTCQX: OTCM), operator of financial markets for 10,000 U.S. and global securities, today announced the launch of the OTCQX® Canada Index (.OTCQXCAN), a new performance benchmark for Canadian companies on the OTCQX Best Market.

The OTCQX Canada Index is designed to highlight for investors the diversity of high-quality Canadian companies that meet the high financial, disclosure and corporate governance standards required to trade on the OTCQX market.  These include large and small companies, representing a wide range of industries from metals and mining to life sciences and biotechnology.  Eligible securities must be traded on OTCQX, listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), TSX Venture Exchange or Canadian Securities Exchange (CSE) and meet a minimum liquidity screen.  Penny stocks, as defined by Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Rule 240.3a51-1, are not admitted to the index.

Current OTCQX Canada Index Constituents

The base date of the OTCQX Canada Index is October 1, 2016, and the base index level is 1,000.  The index divisor is adjusted on an ongoing basis to maintain the continuity of the index return through time.  The index is rebalanced on a quarterly basis during the months of March, June, September and December.

Index data is priced in real-time and is available on the OTC Markets Group website, www.otcmarkets.com, and via major financial data services and websites such as Bloomberg, Reuters and FT.com.

The OTCQX market provides TSX, TSX Venture Exchange and CSE-listed companies an efficient, highly-visible U.S. trading market without the cost and complexity of a U.S. stock exchange listing.  Canadian companies may rely on their existing home country disclosure to qualify for OTCQX and to increase their exposure to U.S. investors.

Investors cannot invest directly in the OTCQX Canada Index.
