NEW YORK, Dec. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- R. Cromwell Coulson, President and CEO of OTC Markets Group Inc. (OTCQX: OTCM), has been named to the DealFlow Power20, DealFlow Media's first-ever annual compilation of "the greatest influencers in the small cap market."

Mr. Coulson was credited for shedding some "much-needed sunshine" on the OTC market since he took over the National Quotation Bureau, the publisher of the Pink Sheets, in 1997. He was also recognized for his role in getting OTC Markets' trading system approved as an SEC-registered alternative trading system, "which will allow greater transparency and efficiency in the company's quotations," and for separating the OTC markets into three tiered marketplaces – OTCQX®, OTCQB® and OTC Pink® – based on the quality and availability of information companies provide their investors. The publication also quoted Mr. Coulson discussing the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act recently signed into law by President Obama, which he said "could lead to more U.S. companies using OTC Markets, since it doesn't require SEC registration."
In 1997, Mr. Coulson led a group of investors in acquiring OTC Markets Group's predecessor business, the National Quotation Bureau (NQB). Since then, he has led the transformation of what was an opaque and inefficient market into technology-driven Open, Transparent, and Connected financial marketplaces. Today, OTC Markets Group, through its wholly-owned subsidiary OTC Link LLC, operates the leading alternative trading system for broker-dealers to trade 10,000 U.S. and global securities. OTC Markets Group's OTCQX, OTCQB and OTC Pink marketplaces have vastly increased the amount and quality of information available for investors. Prior to the acquisition of NQB, Mr. Coulson was an institutional trader and portfolio manager specializing in distressed and value-oriented investments at Carr Securities Corporation, an OTC market maker. Mr. Coulson received a BBA from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX and graduated from the Owner/President Management Program at Harvard Business School.
