Over 3,700 Participants Attend Third Annual Livermore Half Marathon
Sellout event attracts runners from across 36 states to participate in Livermore's premier destination event.
LIVERMORE, Calif., March 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Over 3,700 participants attended the third annual Livermore Half Marathon in Livermore, California, on Saturday. Runners from across 36 states participated in Livermore's premier destination event, completing the half marathon or the 24Life 5K.
"Thank you to all the supporters and congratulations to those who finished the half marathon or 24Life 5K," said Liz Roberts, Livermore Downtown Inc. Board President.
"We are thrilled by today's turnout and the continued growth of the race, which is becoming one of Livermore's premier destination events. It is a beautiful run, showing off California's oldest winemaking region, downtown Livermore and providing a boost to the local economy," added Roberts.
The race start, finish and RunLiv Wine and Music Festival took place in historic Downtown Livermore. The race route passed through areas of the Livermore Valley and Wine Region.
The top finisher in the half marathon division was Scott Trummer, with an unofficial race time of 01:08:56.
"I loved the course! The water stations were great and I look forward to participating again. I'll be going after a 50K for my next race," said Scott Trummer, from Livermore, CA.
At the finish line, finishers were greeted with a medal and a commemorative wine glass. Weekend highlights included the RunLiv Expo and RunLiv Wine and Music Festival featuring wine from 13 participating wineries, beer from Eight Bridges Brewing Company, and some of the best entertainment the region has to offer.
