Owl Computing Technologies Receives Latest OPC Foundation Certification

RIDGEFIELD, Conn., Dec. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Owl Computing Technologies, Inc. (www.owlcti.com), the leading provider of deterministic data diode cybersecurity solutions, is proud to announce an Award of OPC Certification from the OPC Foundation for its OSTS (OPC Server Transfer System) interface software. Owl has been protecting industrial control system networks for almost ten years with its data diode solutions and received its first OPC Certification in 2013.

OPC stands for "Open Platform Communications" – a single standard protocol which enables heterogeneous industrial control systems to communicate with each other. An OPC deployment consists of an OPC Server, the collection point for real-time production data, alarms, events and historical data, and the OPC Clients that read and write to the OPC Server. Owl's OSTS software, combined with an OPDS (Owl Perimeter Defense Solution) data diode, allows the OPC Server to be securely replicated across network security boundaries to another network without opening external attack vectors.

"The testing is performed using an automated compliance tool which uses multiple OPC Servers, multiple OPC Clients and hundreds of data tags. The certification process also includes a 36 hour regression test in which the OPC Server is brought offline and online repeatedly throughout the testing period as data tags are processed. Our certification award proves the robustness of OSTS and its ability to quickly and accurately recover from interrupted transmissions."

Deployed in a number of critical infrastructure industries, OSTS runs on all of the OPDS data diodes and can operate simultaneously with other Owl transfer applications like files, streaming, SNMP and Syslog.
