Oxnard School District Begins Construction on SVA Architects' Design for New Elm Elementary School
SVA Architects Helps Bring State-of-the-Art School to Oxnard School District
SANTA ANA, Calif., Nov. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- SVA Architects, Inc. is pleased to announce that Oxnard School District recently broke ground on the new Elm Elementary School on November 4, 2016. The ceremony, attended by hundreds of Elm Elementary students and community members, marks Oxnard School District's third new campus to be constructed from the proceeds of Measure "R." An approximately $20 million project, Elm Elementary School is one of several recent project wins in the education sector for SVA Architects.
The new Elm Elementary School will house 600 K-5 students in a two-story building. There will be 25 classrooms: 20 general purpose classrooms, 4 kindergarten rooms, and 1 Resource Specialist Program room. Phase 1 construction will run from January 2017 to June 2018, which includes constructing the new buildings and the parking lot. The existing campus will remain intact to house students and staff until construction is complete on Phase 1. Phase 2, which will run from June 2018 to October 2018, will include the demolition of the existing buildings and constructing new playfields in that space. The project, which has already been approved by the Division of the State Architect, is being developed under a lease-lease back agreement.
