Ozomatli & Jefferson Starship to Headline Topanga Days Over Memorial Day Weekend
100% of the proceeds from this three-day fundraising event will go to benefit the Topanga Community Center (TCC), a 501(c)(3)
TOPANGA, Calif., May 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Topanga Days is back! In its 44th year, the three-day family-friendly festival and fundraiser for the Topanga Community Center continues to draw a diverse group of people together through an eclectic mix of 25 musical acts on two stages and plenty of activities that are fun for all ages plus local artists and vendors, food, Kids' Zone and the outrageous and wacky Memorial Day parade. This year's musical lineup features the enduring '70s psychedelic rock band Jefferson Starship on Saturday, May 27th at 5:30 p.m., and L.A.'s own Ozomatli on Sunday, May 28th, at 5:30 p.m., both on the main stage. The lineup also includes: The Brothers Gage, Deb Ryder, Few Miles South, Greenhorn Brothers, Hard Shine Blues Band, Kummerspeck, No Small Children, Raised on TV, Soluzion, The Blue Dolphins, Venice and Whiskey Sunday, among many others.
Madcap games and contests like Three-Legged Race, Baby Derby, Bubble Gum Blowing Contest, Egg Russian Roulette, Cherry Seed Spitting, and the notorious Pie Eating Contest, make for inter-generational excitement and the perfect family outing. A highlight of the weekend is the Memorial Day Parade on Monday morning, May 29th. The parade has an unabashed stream of floats, cars, horses, dogs, kids, fire trucks and more. This year's Grand Marshal is Wendie Malick, the actress best known for her starring roles in Hot in Cleveland and Just Shoot Me!. The parade ends at the entrance of the Topanga Community Center, where the festival continues with a flag raising ceremony honoring members of the military, and local teen powerhouse Gabbi Beauvais will sing the National Anthem.
Food fare ranges from BBQ and Pizza to Mexican and Thai Vegan, with old-fashioned Kettle Corn, funnel cakes, ice cream, smoothies and much more. There will be beer, wine and our popular sangria bar, too.
Parking is available on the street with free shuttle service. Only service dogs with appropriate and current papers, wearing vests, are allowed.
