Pacemakers and defibrilators: Implantation, removal and revision - an overview and trends of all reported procedures in German hospitals. (2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014)
LONDON, July 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- This report shows procedure numbers for the implantation, removal and correction of pacemakers, defibrillators and event recorders reported by all German hospitals between 2006 and 2014.
Pacemakers are distinguished according to their configuration: (1) single chamber systems, (2) two chamber system (with one pacemaker probe; with two pacemaker probes; without / with antitachycardia stimulation) and (3) three chamber systems (with / without atrial electrode). Additional information is provided if the pacemakers have measuring functions for lung water.
Defibrillators are distinguished according to the following configurations: (1) single chamber stimulation (without / with atrial detection; without / with AV-sequential stimulation), (2) two chamber stimulation and (3) biventricular stimulation (without / with atrial electrode). Furthermore information if the defibrillators have measuring functions for lung water, pressure sensors for non-invasive measuring of the right ventricular pressure, measuring function for the contractility of the heart muscle or function for monitoring of the ST segment.
In addition to this we can provide information if all these mentioned systems include a remote monitoring systems.
The following data are available for procedures on the already implanted devices: (1) aggregate removal, (2) probe removal, (3) aggregate and probe removal, (4) probe correction, (5) position correction of aggregates, (6) aggregate exchange, (7) aggregate and probe exchange, (8) probe exchange, (9) coupling correction and (10) system changeovers.
These procedures on the already implanted devices are very precisely described, especially the configurations of the old vs. the new systems. Almost 200 specific procedures are described. Altogether this report presents around 280 specific procedures.
The report provides a general overview of the market size, plus procedures per 100.000 inhabitants per federal state. Furthermore the "Top 5 performers" - hospitals with the most implanted pacemakers / defibrillators / event recorders - are identified. These data will supports strategic business decisions and guide sales activities.
