Pacific Nissan Donates One Hundred Backpacks Filled With School Supplies To Underprivileged Kids
Donation will supply needy students with school supplies at Cherokee Point Elementary
SAN DIEGO, Sept. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Pacific Nissan, a local car dealership located in Pacific Beach, California, at HWY 5 and Mission Bay Dr, gives back to the local community by donating over 100 backpacks filled with school supplies to Cherokee Point Elementary School. Pacific Nissan presented the donation in an effort to help under privileged children prepare for the new school year.
The backpacks had been included as part of the dealerships Back to School Sales Event, offering the entire San Diego community free backpacks and school supplies along with an afternoon of free ice cream, milkshakes, floats, sundaes and nachos. Each family got to select their backpack filled with paper, notepads, crayons, pencils, folders, rulers, pencil crayons, sunglasses and frisbees. The event took place the weekend prior to school beginning, offering families one last opportunity to celebrate the last of summer while doing their school supply shopping for them.
Pacific Nissan's generous donation supplied Cherokee Point Elementary with much needed school supplies just in time for the new school year. "Thanks to Pacific Nissan's donation, we were able to give backpacks and school supplies to many students who needed them. Many of the children who attend CPE come from low income families, some below the poverty line, who are unable to afford the basic necessities to get them through the school year. I know how appreciative everyone was, and I want to thank Pacific Nissan for helping to make that possible," said Godwin Higa, Principal of Cherokee Point Elementary.
Cherokee Point Elementary is located in a high crime area in San Diego. They are dedicated to developing young people of good character who will become informed, responsible, and caring citizens.
"Pacific Nissan was glad to do our part to help students prepare for the new school year. Supporting the local community is something that we are very passionate about," said Darren Johnston, GM of Pacific Nissan. "If we all do our part to stay involved and supportive, we can make a big impact for many organizations and families searching for hope."
