Palisades Federal Credit Union Announces the Winners of the 2010 George Hatala Scholarship

PEARL  RIVER,  N.Y., May 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Palisades  Federal  Credit  Union  awarded  four  high  school seniors with the 2010 George Hatala scholarship during their 69th annual meeting at  the  Comfort  Inn,  in  Nanuet,  NY.  Three  of  the  winners  received  Palisades' George Hatala scholarships in the amount of $750. The fourth scholar received a $1,000  George Hatala  scholarship and  an  additional  $1,000  scholarship award from the Credit Union Association of New York, which brought the evenings total to $4,250 in scholarships.

Palisades' George Hatala scholarship was created to honor Mr. Hatala's resilient efforts to improve the quality of life for everyone in Rockland County, especially the youth. "It's an honor to be able to contribute to the educational goals of our young credit union members. Eligible  scholarship  applicants  are  college  bound  high  school  seniors  who  are members of Palisades Federal Credit Union attending college for the first time in the  fall  of  2010.  The  selection  process  includes  a  review  of  the  student's academic  performance,  extracurricular  and  community  activities  as  well  as  a written essay based on the credit union philosophy of "People helping People"
