WILMINGTON, Del., June 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Mike M. Barlow and Elaine K. Jeter, M.D., Palmetto GBA, have been announced as speakers at Kentmere Healthcare Consulting Corporation's 2nd Annual Genetic Testing and Utilization Management Conference, June 23-24, 2016 in Philadelphia.

Palmetto GBA is the Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) for Jurisdiction M.
Barlow is Vice President Medicare Operations. He has over 36 years of health service industry management experience with progressive leadership responsibilities within the healthcare provider and Medicare contractor companies. As the Palmetto GBA Molecular Diagnostic (MolDX®) program executive, he works closely with clinical leadership and staffing to apply clinical knowledge effectively into an operational setting and to integrate these operational, technical and clinical elements and to establish effective controls, coverage and policy elements. Barlow received his B.S. in Biology/Chemistry from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Dr. Jeter is Medical Director of the MolDX® project in JM. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Genesee in biology/marine science and an MS in biology from the University of South Carolina. Dr. Jeter received her MD from Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), and completed a five-year residency in anatomical and clinical pathology. She has AP/CP boards from the American College of Pathology, and specialty boards in blood-banking/transfusion medicine. Dr. Jeter was on the faculty at MUSC in pathology and in the private practice of pathology for many years prior to joining Palmetto GBA.
At the conference, Barlow will speak on the topic, "PAMA and NGS Technology in Pricing Genetic Tests." With the dramatic reduction in DNA sequencing costs, laboratories have expanded the target genes in many DNA panels, despite evidence of additional value. A review of the PAMA rules and how they will affect reimbursement for these extended panels will be presented.
Dr. Jeter will speak on "A Point-Counterpoint Discussion On NGS Testing, Coverage and Reimbursement." An approach to valuing the data from NGS testing and panels will be presented.
