
INDIANAPOLIS, June 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- For eight weeks this summer, Indianapolis Palomino is celebrating the vibrant festivals of Siena with a Tuscan-inspired menu of fresh, handcrafted cuisine and select renowned Tuscan wines from Ruffino. The menu includes selections such as a savory Pappardelle al Ragu with slow-cooked meats and fresh artichoke, a roasted leg of lamb and pumpkin seed pesto paired with chickpeas and chorizo, and a unique take on classic strawberry shortcake made with polenta and mascarpone cream. The Il Palio menu will be featured from June 16 until August 14.

Il Palio is a tradition that began hundreds of years ago in medieval Siena, Italy. City neighborhoods, called contrade, come together to celebrate and compete in the Piazza Del Campo twice during summer, honoring Madonna di Provenzano and the Feast of the Assumption, with the epic finale—the famous and exciting horse race known as Il Palio. The brightly colored flags of the contrade are reflected in the lively menu covers and bold flavors of the Il Palio menu selections.
