Parks Associates: Smart meter deployments to exceed 50 million in 2013

DALLAS, Jan. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Parks Associates today announced executives from Duke Energy, Reliant, PlanetEcosystems, and San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) will participate in the interactive session "The Role of Energy Providers in Home Energy Management" during the fourth-annual Smart Energy Summit: Engaging the Consumer, February 25-27 in San Antonio, Texas.

"Our research shows the U.S. market will have over 50 million utility-based smart meters deployed by 2013, reaching 62 million by 2015," said Stuart Sikes, president, Parks Associates. Solutions with energy-efficiency components were prominent throughout CES 2013, and Parks Associates research finds 60%-80% of U.S. consumers will pay for energy-saving products like smart thermostats, smart water-tank controllers, and attic insulation.
