ParrotFX Bird Show Flies Off the Charts
Dave Womach Delivers a New Style Show, and Audiences Are Breathless
ATHOL, Idaho, June 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Dave Womach opened ParrotFX at Silverwood Theme Park in Northern Idaho to a packed house and a standing ovation this past weekend.
"The show is Rock Concert meets Parrot Show in a never-before-seen fusion of theatrics and exotic parrots, with an illusionistic twist," said Womach, who has produced a parrot training video that helps resolve many parrot problems such as biting and hissing. A free online video course for all types of parrots shows owners how to teach tricks such as ring toss, the wave and the sleepy parrot. "The scientific community hates us; audiences love us. We educate people during the show in plain English," he said. "People are fascinated with birds. It's the mystery of the unknown."
His career started as a close-up magician working for gift certificates at a local Red Robin restaurant when he was 15 and too young to legally be paid to work, but his passion and talent evolved and has taken him around the globe where he has finally landed as the new attraction for 2012 at Silverwood, just minutes away from where he grew up.
"I wanted to fuse my passion for parrots with my love for illusion, and create a bird show that is unlike anything I've seen in any of the countries I've toured through," he said.
Womach spent the previous two years headlining for Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey's Circus, who built a show around his unique magic and bird training.
ParrotFX starts with a rock concert light show, and the next thing you know, two macaws are flying over your head. When they land on stage, Dave had just appeared. They make another trip around the audience and then land on the lovely Jamieleigh, who just like Womach, simply materializes. And that's just the beginning.
"I drove three hours to make sure I could see the opening show for ParrotFX," said Shelia Deweese, a fan of Womach's parrot training website BirdTricks.com. "I even postponed moving so I wouldn't miss it. I'm so glad I came; I loved it!"
Womach has performed for celebrities such as Rod Stewart, and Shaquille O'Neal, and trained parrots for many of them, including living legend David Copperfield.
He also gives back to the pet world. He recently auctioned several posters for ParrotFX and raised $580 for Zazu's House Pet Sanctuary in Seattle.
