Local Artists Re-Imagine the Symbols of the Seder
MIAMI BEACH, Fla., March 28, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Saturday, April 2 a group of local artists will present innovative works inspired by Passover, the Jewish holiday celebrating the Israelites' exodus from Egypt. The third annual "Seder As Art" event is sponsored by Arts inside The Open Tent, the arts programming arm of The Open Tent, an innovative Jewish engagement initiative.
The opening of Seder As Art will take place on April 2, 2011, 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Art Center/South Florida, 924 Lincoln Road in South Beach. The same work will be shown again on April 9, 2011, 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at The Moore Building, 4040 NE 2nd Avenue, Suite 101, in the Design District.
The Open Tent aims to celebrate and deepen Jewish identity, experience, and community through the presentation of groundbreaking Jewish culture and ideas through performance, visual, literary, and media arts programs rooted in Jewish identity, tradition, practice, culture and/or text. Seder As Art is a hallmark event of The Open Tent. Representing a variety of media (performing, media and visual arts), artists create their own interpretations of parts of the Jewish Passover Seder. The result is an extraordinary evening that is both meaningful and memorable.
