The Patient iP solution, deployed at WROG, was recognized for its impact in the category of "Building the Intelligent Cloud Platform." The Patient iP technology, developed with Microsoft's suite of technologies including Azure and SQL, improves the historically manual and time-intensive process of "patient matching" for clinical trial participation. The Platform securely processes electronic patient data, removing any PHI yet maintaining all other relevant demographic, lab, genomic, procedure and diagnosis data; from here clinical trial protocols – specifically, inclusion and exclusion criteria – are applied in real-time to identify those that are potentially suitable for a study.
Despite collecting patient data electronically over many years, WROG, a Rochester, NY based practice with 12 well-respected physicians, five certified nurse practitioners and a top-notch team of managers and employees, believed it wasn't fully benefiting from its substantive database. The group knew that there was valuable insight within its 66,000 patient records, insight that could potentially lead to treatment options for patients with conditions where the current treatment wasn't overly efficacious, yet the group lacked the analytic resources to evaluate the data against open clinical trials seeking to advance therapies for women's conditions.
