PHOENIX, Feb. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Patreos, an ad-free, blockchain-based content subscription platform, finalized its PATR token airdrop last week in conjunction with the relaunch of the Patreos.com website.
More than 1 billion PATR tokens were automatically airdropped as of February 14, 2019 to the EOS holders who voted for the token last October.
The tokens can be leveraged by followers and fans to support content creators who share their work on Patreos' decentralized platform. The platform offers creators an alternative outlet to YouTube, Facebook and other sites that charge them exorbitant fees or take creative control over the content.
"We distributed 60 percent of our tokens," says Britt Kim, CEO of Patreos. "Our goal with the initial token distribution was to get the word out in the EOS community and build support for content creators. The tokens we retained will enable us to further expand the platform."
Patreos' recently released whitepaper - How Blockchain Will Empower Creativity – fully explains the value of an EOS blockchain-based, content subscription platform and offers additional details about the Patreos token. Patreos' expanded website enables PATR holders to check their balance while offering additional information about the Patreos mission.
Brad Robertson, CEO of Polyient Labs, an early-stage Patreos partner, says the limitations of traditional, centralized content platforms drove the need for a decentralized alternative. "Patreos recognized content creators were being treated unfairly by mainstream channels so the company designed an ecosystem that truly encourages creativity."
