Pawntique Kicks Off "Trust in the Troops" for Struggling Military Families

PORTSMOUTH, N.H., April 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Pawntique, the web's trusted online and mobile-enabled boutique destination for short-term collateral loans, today announced it is launching a program in which the company will give away a total of 25 interest-free, collateral-free $1,000 loans to eligible U.S. military families, called "Trust in the Troops."

"Trust in the Troops" is open to U.S. military families who currently have a family member deployed overseas. Interested families are being asked to submit their compelling story, describing in detail why they need the money, as well as what they plan to do with the money if they are chosen, and brief background of their military involvement.  A panel of judges from Portsmouth, NH will select the recipients later this spring. Entries must be submitted by May 15, 2012.

According to Don Battis, Pawntique's CEO, the online pawnshop decided to sponsor the program after reading a recent CNN Money article about military families in desperate need of loans.

"We figure these families could really use some extra financial support," Battis said. "Often, when a spouse is deployed, the other spouse is left to raise the family alone. There can be many financial struggles that come along with this daunting task, especially with regards to house and car repairs ... it can be quite stressful. Battis noted the program's loans will need to be paid back in full within six months. "We trust we can give away a $1,000 loan to a military family and that they will be able to pay it back," he said. "Afterall, these brave, courageous families are helping to protect our country."
