PCS Edventures Announces Year 3 Contract with Idaho SySTEMic Solution
BOISE, Idaho, Aug. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- PCS Edventures!.com, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: PCSV), a leading provider of K-16 educational programs utilizing hands-on manipulatives, computer technology and robotics that focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), today announced that it has executed a contract with Boise State University for $103,475 for services and materials supporting the third year of the Idaho SySTEMic Solution project. The Idaho SySTEMic Solution is a U.S. Department of Education-funded initiative to advance STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) achievement, enthusiasm, and confidence among elementary-age and middle school students and their teachers. PCS Edventures! provides its BrickLab materials, teacher training, education workshop support, and consulting services for the initiative, which is led by Boise State University, the recipient of the U.S. Department of Education award.
The Idaho SySTEMic Solution began in 2008 with 38 elementary teachers and included 70 teachers in 2009 from the Meridian, Idaho School District, the largest school district in Idaho. The program has been highly popular with elementary educators and administrators seeking to improve STEM integration across the curriculum. The contract with PCS this year accommodates 105 new and continuing educators with a 3-day workshop at Boise State University and additional BrickLab classroom materials and related support services.
Dr. Jim Schmidt, PCS Director of Professional Development, said, "This year's Institute represents an exciting milestone for PCS due to the level of involvement by educators and administrators in the district. Teachers love this program and have contributed each year to its growth through word-of-mouth promotion to other educators and the creation of exciting new lesson plans that are directly linked to their district standards."
PCS delivers a professional development program emphasizing STEM integration across the curriculum, using PCS BrickLab materials, to educators around the world. The original PCS BrickLab was launched in 2002 by PCS Edventures! to provide educators with a simple-to-manage, effective solution for utilizing manipulatives in the educational process. Since its launch, The BrickLab has been deployed into thousands of classrooms and afterschool programs around the world.
Notes:
The third year project of the Idaho SySTEMic Solution project was funded in fiscal year 2010 by an award from the U.S. Department of Education Fund for the Improvement of Education. Boise State University was awarded $400,000 in fiscal year 2010, which represents 100% of the SySTEMic project's total costs.
